Class Descriptions
Pre-School
Rhythmics - Three and a half to five years of age
The only
Pre-School program in Orange County, which teaches fundamental and
rhythmic gymnastics skills at the same time! Our goal is to develop gross
motor skills, strength, flexibility, attention span and listening skills
through creative themes and well structured lesson plans tailored to the
pre-school level children. The use of colorful apparatuses (ribbons,
balls, hoop, been bags) brings a lot of excitement and enhances your
child's hand - eye coordination. Work with music, individual work as well
as work with others are just few of the approaches we take in order to
ensure your child is having fun while learning and developing self esteem
and self confidence!
Recreational
Rhythmics - Five years of age and
up
Open to every girl who has an appreciation for beauty and elegance!
Best way to discover the wonders of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Recreational
Rhythmics is appropriate for either the beginner or for the athlete who is
interested in a non-competitive environment. The Recreational Rhythmics
program is focused on fun and learning, with the eventual goal of
performing group or individual routines. Gymnasts are guided through
stretching, ballet, dance and rhythmic gymnastics body technique
incorporating the use of rhythmic gymnastics ropes, hoops, balls and
ribbons in harmony with music. This program is designed to develop
fundamental body movements, basic coordination, concentration, rhythm, and
team skills. Two types of classes are offered, regular and enhanced. The
enhanced provides an extra thirty minutes of for more fun skills with
ribbons, balls, hoops and ropes – this is the more popular class – girls
really enjoy the creative work with apparatuses!
Pre-Team Program - Five years of age and up
The Program is designed for
those girls who have already taken our Recreational classes and have
decided to bring their preparation to a new and more challenging level.
Short sequences of moves with and without apparatuses as well as short
creative routines to music are thought. Some of the entry level (Lv.3)
competitive program skills are introduced. Often the more talented girls
are invited to take part in our annual Festival of Children performances
at South Coast Plaza – a very exciting and fun event!
Competitive Program Levels 3 and 4 - Five years of age and up
Girls are tested for flexibility, strength, grace
and coordination in order to gain a spot in this program. The Program
develops the beginning skills required to advance through the competitive
USA Gymnastics system. Athletes in this program train between 6 and 9
hours per week. The classes are structured so that the girls learn basic
rhythmic gymnastics body technique, fundamental apparatus technique, dance
preparation and choreography of age appropriate routines. The eventual
goal for a participant in this program is to compete at 2-3 invitational,
state and/or regional competitions during the season.
Competitive Program Levels 5 and
6 - Eight years of age and up
This program is for identified
girls 8 years old and up and prepares them for National and International
competitions. Athletes train 12 hours per week and are guided through an
intensive warm up complex (emphasizing flexibility, strength and form),
ballet, body technique and intermediate apparatus technique. Their
competitive program involves a floor routine and three apparatus routines
choreographed to feature their best qualities and strengths with
apparatuses. The goal for the preparation is through participation at
Invitational, State and Regional meets to qualify for the National
Championships.
Competitive Program
Levels 7 and 8
Girls are trained to further improve their skills and
gain more competitive experience. The increased level of skills requires
more training hours: 15 hours per week. The emphasis on the preparation is
to discover the unique qualities each girl posses and choreograph
individual routines tailored to those qualities for the ultimate success
of the athlete. The competitive program encompasses tree routines with
apparatuses and one floor routine. Girls have the option to compete as
individuals and/or Group members. There is a strong focus on not only the
athlete’s physical preparation, but also their mental training program.
Athletes in this program compete at approximately 4-6 competitions during
their season. The goal is to qualify for Junior Olympics as well as for
the National Championships and perform to the best of their abilities.
Athletes who have shown excellent results at National events may be
invited to compete outside of the country to smaller Club or Invitational
events.
Competitive
Program Levels 9 and 10
The ultimate goal of every rhythmic gymnast’s
preparation is to become a level 10 athlete! Being a level 10 athlete
means you are one of the best in the country and have the great
opportunity to be selected as a National Team member and represent US
internationally. Athletes will be able to enter Individual or Group
competitions at National and International level. Both disciplines are
Olympic events and are recognized by our internationally guiding body FIG
(International Gymnastics Federation). The competitive program contains
four routines with apparatuses – all individually choreographed and/or two
Group events one routine with only one type of apparatus and one routine
with two types of apparatuses.
